Our dear friend, Diana Silonova, was in a serious car accident on January 14th, and sustained a severe spinal cord injury.

Diana is a valued partner to Vase Management. She is from Slovakia and was on the 1998 -2000 Slovakian Women's National Soccer team. She attended the University of Bridgeport. After graduation, she enrolled in the MA program in Organizational Psychology at Fairfield University, while simultaneously working on an MBA, and received both degrees in 2006.

Diana worked with Vase Management, Fairfield University, and IBM. She continued to pursue her love of soccer by playing and coaching for many organizations, including the Olympic Development Program and various youth soccer clubs in Ridgefield, Norwalk, Westport, and Weston.

While Diana's family lives in Slovakia, she is determined to stay in the U.S. with her friends, strive to maximize her rehabilitation potential. Diana’s dedication and passion for life are truly inspirational to all who meet her.

The Official Diagnosis is that Diana has a C4 Complete injury.  This means that the fourth Cervical Vertebrae is the last level of the spine that she has full, normal neural activity.  Complete means that she is unable to reliably repeat or demonstrate control or experience sensation below this level.

The Prognosis is that Diana will be able to move her neck, shoulders and muscles controlling shoulders (rotator cuff area). She can also use her biceps and bend her arms; however, there is small probability of her regaining control and/or sensation below her upper arms (wrist, hands, fingers, torso, legs, and feet).

Diana is facing severe hurdles, both physical and financial, and needs all the support we can give to help her to meet those challenges. The National Transplant Assistance Fund aka NTAF, www.transplantfund.org is supporting all fundraising efforts and is accepting donations for Diana.
