Minority Construction Expo Scheduled for January 2006
VASE MANAGEMENT
Billboard posted on I-84 (south of Hartford, CT)
Hamden, CT, November 28, 2005 - The Connecticut Minority Supplier Development Council (CMSDC) is planning to hold the first ever statewide Expo designed to bring together minority construction companies, large construction management companies, large general contractors, large suppliers to the construction industry, and state & local government owners of projects. The Expo is scheduled to take place at the brand new Connecticut Expo Center in Hartford, CT on January 25-26, 2006.

A number of CMSDC and NMSDC corporate members have signed up early for the Minority Construction Expo. O&G Industries, Pratt and Whitney, Sikorsky, Hamilton Sunstrand, Disney, ESPN, Northeast Utilities, Yankee Gas, CL&P, IBM, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, The Metropolitan District Commission, The City of Stamford, The City of Bridgeport, .

Turner Construction, The City of Hartford, The Connecticut Department of Transportation, The State of Connecticut, Nisco Equipment Solution, Stop & Shop, Trefz Center for Venture Management, Diggs Construction, and Regional Water Authority are all scheduled to exhibit and or attend.

These companies, municipalities and the state have well hundreds of millions of dollars scheduled to spend in the form of construction expenditures over the next 5 years. The corporate and public sector owners have the leverage to make supplier diversity in construction a reality. This is an industry that has billions of dollars of opportunities in the form of new schools that are scheduled in Waterbury, Bridgeport, Stamford, Hartford, New London and in other cities and towns. The state Department of Transportation (DOT) and the State Department of Public Works (DPW) also have significant projects planned in the near future. The Metropolitan District Commission has a $1 billion project on the books to rebuild the Hartford sewer and water system. Corporations are planning new offices and revamping old offices and manufacturing facilities. Each of these projects is an opportunity for large construction managers to distinguish themselves by including minority construction partners.

We are proud to announce that Mayors DeStefano of New Haven, Mayor Fabrizi of Bridgeport and Mayor Malloy of Stamford have all agreed to participate in the CMSDC Construction Conference and Expo. (Mayor Perez of Hartford will be out of town on the 25th, but will be represented.) The Mayorial seminar on construction opportunities in Connecticut's largest cities will be held on January 25th, the first day of the Conference at 12 noon.

Minority Business Enterprises (MBE’s) in other industries are invited to attend this Expo for the simple reason that the exhibitors and other attendees buy a full range of products and services that most likely include what MBE’s offer. To register as a sponsor, an exhibitor, or an attendee please visit the Connecticut Minority Construction Expo website www.ctmce.com or call Vase Management at 203-332-7366.

The mission of the Connecticut Minority Supplier Development Council, Inc. (CMSDC) is to significantly increase the procurement opportunities between corporate members and certified minority owned businesses.
